I’m restarting Rickworks.org with a WordPress blog and so far so good. I managed to get PHP and MySQL installed onto my Mac and test out this stuff locally before I got it live. I wasn’t able to transfer it from there to my Powweb space, but I suppose one can’t get to greedy with dynamic installations can we?
Went to Bot_Killa’s wedding today. Very nice affair. I really haven’t been to many weddings, so it was somewhat unfamiliar territory for me. Since m||3 and I’s wedding is coming up, I was paying attention to how things were going down for future reference. Many from PBP were in attendance so there wasn’t a completely unknown sea of faces. It was nice to see people that one works with in a social atmosphere, although it seems that in such circumstances not many know what to say unless they are frequent visitors to the bar. Still, it was all very sweet although I wonder how DJ’s for such events sleep at night. They did well and I’m envious of the relief that Alex and Tracey must be feeling at the moment. I’m curious to hear about the Costa Rica honeymoon when they get back.
M||3 and I beat a hasty retreat back to 1469 though after stopping for a recommended PS2 game and we’ve been at it ever since. Can’t seem to find a save point so it just goes on and on until we do. We haven’t been playing much PS2 since Silent Hill 3, but Shaolin Monks has proved to be rather entertaining thus far. Just keep mashing buttons and we make progress. Good to have a game we can both play at the same time.
I’ve been very satisfied with WordPress so far. It requires a different way of thinking about web construction. Instead of just adding something you need to work through its management, which can be easy and also a pain in the ass. Need to tweak out an entry? No problem! Need to add some Flash to a page, well, search the Codex and find who has made a plug-in that will allow you to do so easily. Ease is a trade off, but still it is a good introduction to the world of PHP and MySQL and dynamic mojo. Need to pay more attention to that. We’ll see how far I can push and pull it. Maybe I ought to crack that PHP book I bought and have been meaning to get to.
Anyway, check back since there are lots of changes on the horizon.
