Home Repair: Wins and Losses

We’ve been spending some time trying to complete some fixes and improvements around the homestead. We are very pleased to announce that our lighting project in the basement has been completed successfully without and damage to life or limb. With a little help from some Home Depot book, we managed to install a series of basement lights all the way back to the main circuit breaker with blowing ourselves up or burning down the house. It really does wonders for our basement and overall workspace project. I had been hesitant to deal with anything along the electricity front, but par usual m||3’s no fear attitude brought us to successful completion. View the fruits of our labor!
Now that we’ve been rewarded with actually getting something done, we decided to take on another problem which is our main toilet. Basically, it wobbles. I have had a feeling that it was going to be more problem then it seemed, but didn’t realize how much of a nightmare it would be until we pulled the toilet off from the ground. It seems that the last people who dealt with it felt that it was a good idea to weld the closet flange onto the main pipe, which is busted. We went to Home Depot and found good suggestions by a creepily appearing customer service representative. Although we had three options to solve our problems, none of them have worked so far. Our latest attempt resulted in breaking screws as we tried to bolt another support system into the floor. We have another plan for tomorrow, so we’ll see if that solves our problems.
Our final resolve was to chip away the tile to allow an addition that we could screw the flange down to. We tried several options, which included a very disappointing attempt to drill holes straight into the tile, which only resulted in broken screws. So far, no wobble. Fingers crossed.

Dude, replacing the closet flange on older homes blows. I worked at a hardware store during college dealing with plumbing and helped my parents with their rental property. When somthing like that happens it almost always results in pulling up pieces of the floor. Sounds like you got it fixed so congrats!
